I don’t usually announce to people that I have six kids, mainly because I don’t feel like it defines who I am. The other reason is that the response I get is usually very mixed and I feel like people are judging me. It’s not that I’m ashamed or anything- I love my kids and I love my life, but I guess I’m just a little shy about it.
In my case, I did not plan on having six kids, nor did I ever think that I would. Mine happened to come gradual for the most part, and there is a large age gap in the older three to the younger three. I had two kids for most of my life from my first marriage and I wanted one more with my current husband. He had one from a previous marriage that we got on the weekends. Right after our first together was born we got custody of my step daughter and then the twins surprised us! My oldest will be 21 soon and no longer lives with us, although she still accounts for her share of the food bill 😉
I find it to be amazing that life can throw you such amazing and unexpected curve balls and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
